COVID-19 Economic Response and Recovery: A Rapid Scoping Review

This rapid scoping review of existing evidence and research gaps addressed the following question: what exists are at global, regional, national levels on interventions to protect jobs, small- medium-sized enterprises, formal/informal sector workers in socioeconomic response coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic? The results based 79 publications deemed eligible for inclusion after screening prioritizing 1,658 records. findings organized according 3 main categories interventions—protecting workers—although intertwined. Most were derived from global-level gray literature with recommendations implicit links sustainable development goals. Based uncovered review, future implementation science needs focus designing, implementing, evaluating, scaling: effective evidence-based interventions; equity-focused, redistributive, transformative comprehensive packages complementary upend root causes systemic social inequities; collaborative participatory approaches; that integrate environmental sustainability; city-level interventions. Failing consider dimensions economic recovery is shortsighted will ultimately exacerbate inequities poverty undermine stability long term.
